Spending and Student Achievement

We see that the R-square value continued to rise from 11.6% to 15.6%. The F-value went from 4.33 to 4.06 whereas the P-value is now at 0.056. The P-value indicates no evidence of a lack of good fit (P > .01). This means that for the most part, results with states that spend between $4,000 and $6,000 per pupil show a very weak relationship and therefore, we can conclude that the strength of the relationship of states spending $4,000 to $6,000 per pupil is similar to the original data set. Below is a residual graph versus the fitted values of states spending $4,000 to $6,000 per pupil. Note the sporadic application of the points. This leads us to conclude that removing points outside the majority group of between 4,000 to 6,000 will have little to no effect on the outcome of the final data. (chart)
